Manages and is accountable for the success of the monitoring and discovery tools for the Company’s Information Technology and Business Systems. Designs, structures, configures, analyzes and administrates monitoring and discovery tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily administration of one or more monitoring and discovery tools, such as: HP Universal Configuration Management Database (uCMDB), HP Discovery and Dependency Mapping (DDM), HP Business Availability Center (BAC), HP Business Service Management (BSM), HP Sitescope, HP Operation Manager (Omi/OMw) and HP Network Node Manager (NNMi)
Responsible for primary support/administration of one or more monitoring/discovery tools.
Analyzes, designs, implements, and refines discovery patterns and tools.
Develops dashboards utilized by business partners and IT customers.
Monitors event activity and performance regarding servers, networks, security, Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and applications.
Provides day-to-day support, maintenance and troubleshooting of supported tools.
Ensures the availability, performance and security of supported tools.
Verifies integrity of monitoring and discovery services; communicates process with stake holders and to ensures knowledge transfer is current, useable and understood by both technical and non-technical users.
Ensures recommendations are supported and implemented.
Analyzes and evaluates monitoring and discovery tool vendors and services, provides recommendations to management.
Analyzes existing tools and evaluates viability of solution to technological needs, provides recommendations to management.
Works with Business Systems Management (BSM) team and appropriate stake holders to support HP Application Performance Management and discovery products
Minimum 1 year experience working as an HP monitoring and/or discovery tool administrator or 2 years working with other similar tools. Demonstrated knowledge of HP Business Service Management (BSM), HP Sitescope, HP Operation Manager (Omi/Omw) and HP Network Node Manager (NNMi). . Demonstrated analytical problem solving skills and technical analysis skills; exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills. Ability to create and implement innovative reporting. Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently, while making timely and sound decisions, working efficiently in a fast paced environment, and working independently. Requires experience with at least one scripting language such as C, Java, VB, Python, WSH and Groovy. Prefer experience with discovery methods such as: SNMP, SSH, WMI and NTCMD. ITIL Foundation Level certification preferred. Dynatrace EUM experience is a plus. HP Universal Configuration Management Database (uCMDB) and HP Discovery and Dependency Mapping (DDM) toolsets experience is optional. Retail experience preferred.
