On Sunday, March 13th, a group of 51 Xtreme Portland team members participated in the 38th Annual adidas Shamrock Run. Founded in 1979, the Shamrock Run is the largest running and walking event in Oregon and is the third largest running event in the western United States. Our team joined 30,000 other eager runners and braved the steady downpour of rain to run the scenic 3.1-mile course through downtown Portland.
What initially attracted Xtreme to the adidas Shamrock Run was the race’s partnership with the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation. The Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation provides power, potential, and promise for one of America’s leading pediatric health centers: Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. The commitment and generosity of thousands of donors – individuals, companies, foundations, and organizations – help make possible comprehensive and innovative health care, education, and research at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital for the children of Oregon and southwest Washington.
Xtreme CEO, Greg Rankich, was so impressed by the Portland office’s enthusiasm to participate, he pledged to donate $100 to the Doernbecher Foundation on behalf of each Xtreme participant. On Friday, March 28th, Xtreme Portland followed through with that pledge and donated a whopping $5,100 to the Children’s Hospital.
Xtreme Portland looks forward to participating in the Shamrock Run next year and forming a “Super Team” with over 75 participants!
