In August 2015, Xtreme Kirkland and Redmond offices participated in Communities in School’s Stuff The Bus program. Last year, this school supply drive supplied over 52,000 supplies for over 9,500 low-income students in the Seattle School District. The goal this year is to assist 10,000 children!
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Stuff The Bus school supply drive. This dropout prevention program is able to effectively eliminate a significant barrier that keeps students from staying in school and achieving a successful future.
As the average yearly cost of school supplies for a child is more than $100, many families struggle to send their kids to school each year with all the supplies they need. On average, an elementary school teacher spends about $400 each year out-of-pocket to provide supplies for their students. Stuff The Bus supports both families and teachers in our community.
On August 24th, the CIS School Bus drove around to local business to collect their donations. It was a rewarding experience to fill the bus up with all the donations our Xtreme Team rallied in the past two weeks. We are grateful to participate in such a great cause as helping kids stay in school.
