Over the weekend, the Xtreme Phoenix team rallied together to support the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Xtreme Phoenix was a proud sponsor and participant in the NAMI Valley Walk in downtown Phoenix on Saturday, October 17th.
One of our Xtreme employees, Sherron, is a regular volunteer for NAMI and encouraged her coworkers to join in on the 5k walk. The NAMI Walk helps bring Arizona’s mental illness community together while also raising dollars for NAMI’s outstanding support and education programs. This event successfully raised over $126,000 to help those affected by mental illness.
A snippet from the NAMI Walks website best details their mission:
Every journey begins with that first step! As NAMI Walks celebrates our 13th Anniversary in 2015, we are proud to be the largest and most successful mental health awareness and fundraising event in America! Through NAMI Walks’ public, active display of support for people affected by mental illness, we are changing how Americans view persons with a mental illness. This is leading to ensuring that help and hope are available for those in need. Please join us as we improve lives and our communities one step at a time!”
