Idaho State Department of Education – Statewide Portal
The Idaho State Department of Education (SDE) engaged Xtreme to develop and implement a statewide portal for collaborating, reporting, and distributing access to the Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS). The project’s vision was to provide education information and resources to all state and educational employees, district and school administrators, teachers, students, and parents, which required the creation of a complex identity management solution.
Making it happen
Xtreme worked in conjunction with SDE, the Idaho State Board of Education, and School District IT Directors to thoroughly envision and document the project requirements and technical standards. The project also required managing technical resources who worked for Xtreme, the SDE, the Idaho State Board of Education, multiple Idaho school districts, various contract companies, as well as external software and hardware vendors.
Xtreme led the requirements gathering and specification development process and was ultimately responsible for the completion of this two year development effort. The project was completed on time and has successfully transitioned to a support and enhancement phase.
+ Project was built utilizing the MOSS 2007 Enterprise License (later updated), Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Manager 2007 (Windows Server 2003), Active Directory Federation Services, (Windows Server 2008 R1), and SQL Server 2008 Cluster.
+ Created custom web parts with custom SharePoint features for site authorization at the state, district, and school level.
+ Created custom .NET web applications
